The Club’s focus on development of talent is one of the reasons that it has now achieved “Clubmark” accreditation from the LTA.  This is something comparatively new to tennis, but is a benchmark of good practice and high standards for sports clubs.  Banstead Downs is amongst the first tennis clubs in Surrey to have achieved this accreditation.  This is a major achievement and follows the final inspection visit by Richard Shepherd of Tennis Surrey on Tuesday 14th October. To achieve the accreditation the Club had to satisfy the LTA on 49 separate criteria including  Club Action Planning; Tennis Programmes (Coaching, Competition, Talent attraction, Links with Schools, Links with other clubs, Appropriate facilities); Policies and Procedures (Child Protection, Equality and Diversity, Codes of Practice, Health and Safety) and Club Management (Communicating with members, Promoting the club, Managing the workforce).
